Bush Baby Wildlife Rescue Inc was originally founded by a local wildlife carer many years ago in Moura, Central Queensland.

After a few years, a small group formed a fundraising committee to support the carer in raising and rehabilitating wildlife. It was agreed with the carer that the fundraising group apply for not-for-profit status while keeping the Bush Baby Wildlife Rescue Inc name. The carer signed the name over to the group, adding Inc.— 2015 was the beginning of becoming a registered charity. The wildlife carer we support has a specialist species permit to care for a wide range of wildlife which include endangered species and also least concern wildlife such as koalas, emu chicks, birds of prey / Raptors, kites, hawks, owls, echidna’s, gliders etc.

Over the years, the committee and members have changed, but the mission remains the same: to raise much needed funds for rescue, rehabilitate, and release native wildlife & build the Bush Baby Wildlife Rescue Inc Rehabilitation Centre.

The current committee has worked tirelessly to secure:

  • Charity & DGR status

  • 10 acres of leased land on Theodore Road, Moura (via Banana Shire Council)

  • A plan to build the “Bush Baby Wildlife Rescue Inc Rehabilitation Centre”

As an added benefit we have Snake Catchers as members of our group. The community are fortunate to have two registered snake catchers among our members. They relocate snakes free of charge, and while they do not accept payment, donations toward wildlife care are always welcome.
